Life

25 Weeks

My pregnancy is becoming more and more challenging as the weeks go by. A recently-discovered condition requires me to temper my active lifestyle and get more rest. Hence, I have taken a break from my pole and barre instruction, and lessening the chore work at home as well. It’s not easy, I have to admit. My body misses what it’s accustomed to, and it seems that the more I rest, the more aches and pains I feel. Ah… to be pregnant at 38 is certainly dipping into a whole new fertility bracket.

An Update

I have neglected this blog for awhile and I apologize. Planning a wedding has consumed most of my time (and my thoughts). My days and weekends are filled with planning, meeting with vendors, and the like – all of these on top of an already busy schedule with two jobs. Don’t get me wrong though, I love being busy as it keeps my mind constantly engaged and excited.

I woke up in a panic today, realizing Christmas is just a few days away and I haven’t even completed my Christmas list. While my list has been drastically cut short due to the upcoming wedding and honeymoon, material gift-giving just doesn’t quite come up on my priority list these days. In the past month, I have instead put my money towards charitable causes and it has truly given more meaning to the true spirit of giivng. And of course, the recent tragedy in Connecticut has certainly set a different tone for everyone as well.

With the intent of keeping this post just a quick sharing of what’s been on my mind as of late, I will end here by wishing you all a blessed and meaningful Christmas! The greatest gift we can give anyone not just this holiday season but all throughout the year, is the gift of our time. It is my hope that we all get to spend time with our loved ones and really celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

Man’s Best Friend

We welcomed Ruca (she’s a Pomeranian-Pug, in case you wondered) into our home over 3 years ago. Having a dog in the family has brought us so much joy! But everyone who is a dog-owner knows that caring for a dog entails a lot of work. It’s basically like having another child thrown into the mix. About a month ago, Nugget came into the picture. She’s actually my daughter’s boyfriend’s dog, who we are temporarily adopting while he is in between moves. Taking them on a short walk on my lunch break and after work has become part of my daily routine. Today was actually the first time I decided to snap some photos with them.

“A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours. Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things-a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty.”  – John Grogan, Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog
